Embion is offering multiple internship positions in the field of food chemistry, chemical engineering, and materials sciences.

Responsibilities

 

  • Join Embion’s prebiotics development team where you will familiarize with the concept of prebiotics and its importance for the microbiome
  • Train in new methods of production of such ingredients and acquire expertise in analytical techniques and characterization as well as laboratory management.
  • Work as an equal member of a small, dynamic start-up team. That does, however, include from your part dedication, commitment, resilience, and the ability to handle problems with a certain degree of independence, while showing a proactive and collaborative spirit.

Qualifications and experience:

 

  • Bachelor degree or Master’s degree (or completing last year in Master degree) in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Technology, Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering.
  • Prior hands-on experience in chemistry or biotechnology laboratory is a must.
  • Knowledge in carbohydrate chemistry and hydrolysis processes is an asset.
  • Structured analytical thinking. Independent, proactive, goal-oriented, creative and persistent. You thrive in challenging situations and you are not discouraged by failure.
  • Ability to adapt and learn fast, while working in a small but dynamic team.
  • Efficiently communicating and reporting results.
  • Very good communication skills in oral and written English is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Contribute to the existing and novel projects, scale up of results and executing the optimization of reaction/performance conditions for the extraction of functional plant components.
  • Plan and assign tasks to laboratory technicians and establish target dates and priorities.
  • Interpret results, evaluate data and draw relevant conclusions.
  • Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes.
  • Supervise and train technical personnel to perform experiments following standard protocols.
  • Contribute to the optimization of project related scientific/technical activities and processes within function.
  • Act as a cross-functional team member and/or lead local multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Evaluate new scientific technologies, platforms and procedures.

Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Food Technology, Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years relevant experience in food industry.
  • Deep knowledge in plant chemistry.
  • Experience with the protein extraction, protein characterization, and product formulation.

  • Ability to adapt and learn fast, while working in a small but dynamic team.
  • Efficiently communicating and reporting on results.

Qualifications:

 

  • 7-10 years working experience in industry with focus on polymer science is a must.
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science.
  • Deep knowledge in polymer chemistry.
  • Experience with suspension polymerization, dispersion polymerization, formulation of solid materials.
  • Experience with size specific materials engineering and coating methods is preferable.

The position is immediately available. Swiss nationals and holders of a valid work permit in Switzerland that can start immediately will be given priority for this position.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Perform experiments according to established protocols using a small and a pilot-scale reactors for the production of prebiotics from a variety of feedstocks.
  • Establish new protocols for analytical detection of complex carbohydrates.
  • Develop the methods of chromatographic separation for different types of plant molecules (HPLC, ICS).
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analytical studies.
  • Document the results of the experiments and prepare clear presentations to highlight differences.
  • Work flexibly and responsibly within the team to maintain the equipment.
  • Propose and implement improvements to optimise the capability and capacity of our systems.

Qualifications:

 

  • Basic education as a chemistry laboratory technician is necessary.
  • Good knowledge in the development of separation methods in HLPC and GC.
  • High level of commitment and capability to work independently.
  • Ability and experience to build networks within the team, the department and with other functions.
  • Good conversational command of English. Fluency in French is a plus.
  • Knowledge of analytic methods in carbohydrates is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and ability to learn new systems quickly.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Act as the brand custodian, both externally and internally; ensure communication to employees, customers, prospects and partners is well maintained and aligned with the company’s vision
  • Define, implement and execute strategic marketing plans and campaigns to attract and convert prospects
  • Research content and opportunitiesand launch associated awareness/lead generation initiatives
  • Integrate market, partners and customer input with communication strategy
  • Continually find ways to improve on marketing metrics and KPIs through testing new initiatives and gaining insights from affiliates
  • Update, maintain and expand web and social content
  • Develop effective CRM and retention programs
  • Provide constructive feedback to the product team
  • Represent Embion in events around the world as necessary
  • Ability and flexibility to travel.

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or relevant field. MBA or other relevant Graduate or Postgraduate Degree is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of hands-on and strategic experience. Background working in a Startup environment and familiarity with Lean Startup concept is a plus
  • Experience in both B2B and B2C marketing
  • English fluency and other languages are a plus.
  • Core commercial skillset (strategy and tactics) and understanding of market.
  • Strong analytical and data skills, ability to analyse data and report findings
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, project/event management and organisation skills

As our team grows, we are looking for an experienced Financial Director/ CFO with both strategic and operational experience and appetite to work closely with the CEO and executive team of Embion in order to refine, expand and manage our business.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Strategy & Planning

 

  • Act as a strategic financial business partner to the Board and the CEO, growing, refining, and managing the company’s financial planning
  • Create, establish and track yearly financial objectives that align with the company’s plan for growth and expansion
  • Perform risk management and advise on investment strategies by considering cash, analyzing liquidity risks and investments
  • Serve as a key stakeholder and provide effective insight and strategic recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan
  • Assess and evaluate the company’s financial performance, regarding goals, budgets, and forecasts
  • Provide financial insight to the CEO and board of directors
  • Interact and collaborate with the executive team and all other stakeholders to set KPIs and identify business opportunities
  • Represent the company as needed and required by the CEO

 

Financial & Accounting Operations

 

  • Manage the company’s financial planning and analysis with return on investment analysis (cash-flow planning, IRR, NPV, etc.) including services from external partners
  • Prepare and delivery on reporting obligations to various stakeholders
  • Prepare and oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management
  • Supervise all cash movements and ensure appropriate internal controls
  • Explore, identify and develop new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks
  • Analyze new developments and expansions
  • Manage the annual audit for the company and the timely filing of all tax returns
  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws and company’s policies

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Master or other relevant Graduate or Professional accounting designation is a plus
  • 10+ years of hands-on and strategic experience in financial accounting, auditing, financial services, M&A, family office or other relevant function
  • Exposure working in a startup environment and familiarity with startup financing mechanisms and ecosystems such as in Switzerland, EU, US including extensive network of financing sources
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and executive presence
  • Experience in accounting and corporate finance, cash management and start-up fundraising. Strong exposure to commercial finance as a plus
  • English fluency and other languages are a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational and data skills, ability to analyze data and translate in data-driven strategies
  • Result oriented - excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills. Able to work and to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive and collaborative team player and project management skills, with ability to bring projects to timely completion. Experience in building teams and working in a constant growth business
