Industrial Polymer Scientist

Embion builds today the next generation in plant processing technology to meet the planet’s growing demand in nutrition, materials and energy. Our aim is to become the technology leader for producing natural, sustainable, low emissions products from underutilized plant side streams across all industries, starting with nutrition, where our team develops, produces and markets the next-generation of prebiotic ingredients for humans and animals. For the expansion of our R&D department we are looking for a solution oriented and innovative person in the function of industrial polymer scientist.

  • Contribute to the existing and novel projects related to polymer and composite formulation.
  • Plan and assign tasks to subordinates or team members and establish target dates and priorities.
  • Interpret results, evaluate data and draw relevant conclusions.
  • Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes.
  • Supervise and train technical personnel to perform experiments following standard protocols.
  • Contribute to the optimization of project related scientific/technical activities and processes within function.
  • Act as a cross-functional team member and/or lead local multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Evaluate new scientific technologies, platforms and procedures.


  • 7-10 years working experience in industry with focus on polymer science is a must.
  • Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science.
  • Deep knowledge in polymer chemistry.
  • Experience with suspension polymerization, dispersion polymerization, formulation of solid materials.
  • Experience with size specific materials engineering and coating methods is preferable.
  • Structured analytical thinking. Independent, proactive, goal-oriented, creative and persistent: You thrive in challenging situations and you are not discouraged by failure.
  • Ability to adapt and learn fast, while working in a small but dynamic team.
  • Efficiently communicating and reporting on results.
  • Very good communication skills in oral and written English is a requirement.

The position is immediately available. Swiss nationals and holders of a valid work permit in Switzerland that can start immediately will be given priority for this position.
